Of what a city beyond its architecture is done?
Which are the threads that to each other relate their inhabitants, or with their surroundings, with those who were and those who will come?
With what threads we tile our history?
Teatro de los Sentidos has been years working on these questions. We have confronted them from different perspective and geographies: Barcelona, Naples, Copenhagen, Palermo and Singapore. Through an investigation process in situ, we integrated local artists in the investigation and the distribution. With them, we constructed a different experience that it leaves from the memory of each one of the cities.
What it really defines to a city is not its external form, but indeed the opposite thing: everything what we cannot see. The essential is always the hair net. The relations between the people who intercross like invisible threads and who constitute their hidden architecture. It is that weave which turns it into an alive organism, with its own joys, its dangers, their miseries, their hopes and their negations. A so valid and mysterious organism as our own body. A weave of thousands of threads that unite, separates, catches or releases to their inhabitants. We did not work to create a picture, a story on the city; we concentrated in this invisible essence: in the memory that has created their scents, its sounds, the memories of the people that have inhabited it and that live there.
